my husband + I met in the summer of 2021 in athens, ga. we fell in love and by the beginning of 2022, we moved to atlanta together before he had to go back to Türkiye in May of 2022 (where he is from and had lived all of his life prior to moving to athens to get his masters degree). he had to move back due to his post-grad school work commitment and because immigration is .. immigration! for two years now, we have done long distance with a 7 hour time distance and 5000 miles between us. In the beginning of 2023 we got engaged and later that year we got married surrounded by our best friends and family in Türkiye. we had the best week of our lives with everyone we love in one place. It was truly the most surreal week of my life.
since he moved, I have traveled to visit him 6 times, generally for a month at a time so we get be together as much as possible while I also balance everything out well enough to be gone from my business. I have one more trip planned in 2024, and will visit again in 2025 though we hope he will come back to the US in 2025! we are currently in the process of him applying for citizenship, which is a long, complex, and expensive process. the hope would be for him to be able to come home (!!) in the next 1-1.5 years; we are doing every thing we can to make that possible.
I am selling these prints from my trips to Türkiye in order to set money aside for immigration fees and the costs of moving his life 5,000 miles back to be in atlanta with me, whenever that may be.
